2026 - 2027 season
Nina | Violetta
by Monica West
September 17-20, 2026
A dark fairytale about the roles we’ll bleed to sing, featuring arias from Verdi’s La Traviata. Directed by Erin Ortman. We’re opening our season with a reading of Nina/Violetta, a new work that boldly and hilariously explores the intersection of motherhood and opera, with La Traviata’s Violetta as our not-necessarily-reliable guide.
Pilgrimage
January 22-23, 2027
We reunite with collaborative BFFs at Danceworks to lead you on a pilgrimage inside the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, where you’ll refresh your spirit with several centuries of music and dance.
We have been collaborating with Danceworks every other year since 2011, making Pilgrimage our 9th project together! Join us for an evening that will move you, literally.
Fortuna the timebender vs. the Schoolgirls of doom
May 13-17, 2027
She’s back! Fortuna is returning to the stage, this time with a live chamber orchestra in tow! Directed by Jill Anna Ponasik.
Seventeen years after she first appeared in a reading at Milwaukee Opera Theatre, Fortuna is back, and she’s traveling! When we found out that Nashville Opera planned to produce Fortuna the Time Bender vs. The Schoolgirls of Doom in their 2026/27 season—with a new chamber orchestration—we figured that was a mighty fine reason to remount it here. Add that the Opera America Conference will be in town this Spring, and we had an extra impetus to re-share this cornerstone in MOT’s body of work!
