May's Voice Lab is Virtual!
Tuesday, May 31, 2022
7:00-9:00 PM
Due to the current status of the pandemic, we're heading back inside for another Virtual Voice Lab.
(We're sad about it, too, but we're keeping our fingers crossed for a live/outdoor lab in June)
To register, email Company Manager Danny Brylow at [email protected].
As usual, we'll take the first 12 singers to sign up.
Coordinate your accompaniment (or prepare to sing a cappella) and get ready to sing live! On the day of the Lab, check your inbox for an email with a link for the Zoom call and meet us there at 7:00 PM! Because of the Zoom format, please email Danny to RSVP even if you're only planning to watch so we can make sure you get the link.
If you'd rather record your performance in advance, that's cool too!
Just email your video to Danny by 6:00 PM on the day of the Lab
and we'll take care of the rest.

Per our usual Voice Lab format, Jill Anna and Danny will be on hand to provide feedback
and then we'll open the discussion to other Voice Lab participants:
Step 1 - Statements of Meaning: Responders state what was meaningful, evocative, interesting, exciting, or striking in the work they have just witnessed.
Step 2 - Artist as Questioner: The artist asks questions about the work.
In answering, responders stay on topic with the question and may express opinions in direct response to the artist’s questions.
Got any questions about how this all works?

Voice Lab FAQs
What has Voice Lab been used for? Voice Lab has been used by professional artists to prepare for auditions, try out new repertoire, and revisit old, familiar pieces. Composers have used Voice Lab to assist them in the development of new work. Voice Lab has been used by avocational singers to continue their practice, and by singers returning to music after a hiatus who want a safe place to try things out. Voice Lab is here to support you in whatever way it can.
What does it cost? Voice Labs are offered free of charge. This is one way we support the growth of artists and their art.
Testimonials: "I thought I might be intimidated by all the great voices there, but everyone was so supportive and constructive, that now the only hard part is deciding what to sing next time."
"It was wonderful to be able to perform and hear others perform in such an intimate, non-judgmental situation. It really is a brilliant idea for Milwaukee Opera Theatre to host these."
"If all meetings were run like you run voice lab, people would be so much happier. You keep everyone focused and on task, make it fun, and are SO supportive and positive to everyone!"
